I have no idea what I’m going to do tomorrow…

Made it to Dungarvan, back to where I pulled out on the first trip. Still one short day paddle to do near home to close the loop, but tonight I sleep at home for the first time in over a month.
No words for how it feels to be back here from the other direction, accomplished in the sunshine rather than defeated in the drizzle.

This time tomorrow…
Good times on the copper coast while I run down the clock ‘til my ride home on Friday.
Last night, I landed in Boatstrand, a half day from the finish which I’ll drag out over today and Friday, exploring every cove along the way.
My friend Caroline met me at the pier and we went back the way I came to check out some rocks and go through a little sea arch. We met David and Deirdre for kebabs and curry chips after. Between the weather and intentional slow-down, these last days feel more like a summer holiday than an expedition.
In the morning, I got a visit from Mick O’Meara who holds the speed record for kayaking around Ireland (23 days). While we were chatting about the trip and training, it hit me: I’ve nearly done it. And I got this far, thanks in no small part to the support of the small, strange family of circumnavigators I’ll be a member of this time tomorrow.

President Kennedy kept a plaque on his desk embossed with a Breton fisherman’s prayer:
“…thy sea is so great and my boat is so small”
These vids from @the_irish_experience and pics by @miachristinagram capture a little bit of what it looks like to be a tiny vessel on a vast ocean.
