Notes from the Wild Atlantic Way

In May 2025, I completed a solo circumnavigation of Ireland by sea kayak, raising a little money for Parkinson’s Disease research along the way.

Only about 100 people have done this; 30 or so have done it solo.

My Substack, The Lap, started as a log of my training and the trip, and has become a place where I write about exploring the Irish coast in tiny vessels. Stay tuned for dispatches from my next adventure.

In the meantime, subscribers get regular notes from life on the Wild Atlantic Way, where my wife, Dominique, and I live and write in a cottage we share with our baby boy and a black cat.

I’m stoked to share this journey with you and to explore this storytelling format.
